Holy Lazy Bakery, Batman!

Looking back at our website, it seems that there haven't been any "Stahl's 411" newsletters since the end of May.

Thankfully that hasn't stopped you from coming either to the bakery or to 'Stahl's South' (Haymaker Farmers' Market). And kudos to you for finding us! Yes, we're still on the south side of the Haymaker bridge, but the market has expanded so far that that now makes us closer to the middle than the end.

So what's new for the weekend?  For Kent in general, it's going to be a busy few days!  On Friday, D.I.C.E.* will be showing "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" on the big screen at Home Savings Plaza (corner of Main & Water). Isn't it nice to know that there are some family-friendly things to do in downtown? The movie starts at dusk, so come to town early so you and yours can shop a few local businesses and have dinner beforehand.

Next on the weekend agenda? The Black Squirrel Adventure Triathlon goes right through town, ending with an Alex Bevan concert in Home Savings Plaza (busy corner, eh?) from 1:30 to 4:30. http://www.Mainstreetkent.com for more details.  If you're not participating, please wander and shop downtown while waiting to cheer the athletes on.  Still not tired?  http://www.katiebrookequiltshop.com is sponsoring the Kent Area Quilt Show, being held at Patton House on Main St. on Saturday (9-5) and Sunday (11-4).  All proceeds benefit local food pantries ~Yaaay, Katie Brook!  Once you've been inspired by the show, be sure to check out Katie Brooke's new digs on Main St. and get some supplies to start working on your own entry for next year!

Naturally we can't forget the Haymaker Farmers' Market, now in full swing on Saturdays from 9-1. (the corn has arrived!) This week's "Music at the Market" program will feature  The Celtic Clan.  You might remember how fun and energetic their appearance was at last year's Market.

As for us, we'll be bringing everyone's favorite assortment of cookies, Pepperoni Rolls (we're now bringing twice as much, but they're still selling out, so better get there first), Blueberry Scones, Muffins, Pizzelles, and Italian Bread.  This week's special bread is Individual Rosemary Focaccia.  Think of focaccia as pizza's great-grandpa; short, round, no sauce, but some savory goodies baked on top.  We make ours with rosemary-infused olive oil in the dough, a bit more drizzled on top, a sprig of fresh rosemary, and a sprinkling of cheese. Large enough for one (you don't have to share with anybody). Yummo!  Oh yeah, we'll also be bringing Almond Petit Fours.  And if you missed them last week, we'll be bringing more Cannoli.  Please don't stampede the booth!
