Taste the Music?

Is that a typo?  Or maybe a '70s drug culture reference?

Nope!  It refers to this week's soup, Cream of Roasted Garlic (w/roll).

Because in addition to the flavor mix of onion, thyme, and bay leaf, we've also blended different types of garlics together, including a variety from local farm Bella Terra named "Music."  If you went to the Haymaker Farmers' Market, you might also have a bag of Music on your counter.  Feel free to make your own jokes about the ability to carry music in a paper sack- this newsletter's all about the soup.

As convenient as the farmers' market is, sometimes you only need to look out your front window for ingredients.  In Stahl's case, that would be 101 Bottles, our neighbor across the parking lot. When it came time to pick a white wine, the friendly & helpful staff at 'Bottles' suggested Beringer Moscato. Just enough sweetness to mellow out the garlic, and lots of richness to tie all the flavors together.  Don't worry, the alcohol's been cooked out, leaving lots of flavor behind.

Speaking of local, Beringer is a California winery, but 101 Bottles also has a nice selection of wines from local vineyards.  Check them out!
