Well, more like a-flora. If you've spent some time away from Kent over the last couple of weeks, you've probably seen acres of beautiful goldenrod plants blooming. Although they're illegal inside the city boundaries (seriously – Ordinance 551.01 names them specifically along with daisies, Queen Anne's Lace and a few others) , so if you're city-bound, your first taste of fall color will probably come right around now, from a few tinges of autumn peeking out from trees that are otherwise still lusciously green.

This is actually a great weekend to venture out of Kent, and for more than just fields of high-waving wildflowers. Ravenna's annual Balloon-A-Fair is being held on Saturday & Sunday, veering between Ravenna's Main St. and Sunbeau Valley Farm. Another event in Ravenna this Sunday is the Rick Schoepe Benefit at the Big Dog Bar. You might remember Rick as the Star of the West Mill employee who was killed in a hit & run accident in July. The benefit includes lunch, raffles, corn hole, bands, a 5K race, and more. Get more information at or on their facebook page.

As for us, we'll be heading out to the Stow Farmers' Market on Saturday morning. Don't let the goldenrod fool you, Ohio's farms are still growing great food! This week at the market we'll be bringing Petit Fours, Czech Pastries, Cupcakes, and the Frosted Cookies will be making a change also: from Sunflowers to Fall Leaves & Acorns. The featured performer this Saturday is Brennady Barnes, and the market's community booth will be manned by a licensed pharmacist from Walgreens, ready to answer your medication. supplement, and vaccine questions.

See you Saturday!
