Stahls E- News

Hear that rustling in the bushes? Don't worry, it's the incoming KSU freshmen, and they're probably more scared of you than you are of them. For best results, approach them gently, speak quietly, and make no sudden movements. In fact, if you'd like to tame one, try offering a cookie. A Stahl's cookie, of course.

Even though Fall Semester doesn't start until Monday, the freshmen were scheduled to move in this last Wednesday. A good plan, right? Let the newcomers get their bearings before all the upperclassmen clog the streets. And the annual Discover Downtown is on Saturday to introduce them to their new home town. But you may have also noticed that the upperclassmen, who aren't required to live on campus, have already started trickling in, doing their own bearing-getting, meeting up with new roommates, and looking for part-time jobs. Some have even jumped the gun on their semester – the marching band has been seen rehearsing on the front lawn of the Music & Speech building for over a week now.

The University students aren't the only ones returning to school, of course. From Hartville's early Aug. 19 start to Kent City's Aug. 27th return, all over the area public school students are shrugging off the boredom of summer and cheerfully skipping back to class. Yeah, right. And many of them will be packing. A lunch, that is. If you have kids to pack for, or just yourself, we can help! For this Saturday's Stow Farmers' Market, we'll be making Honey Whole Wheat Bread, Traditional cookies (Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal-Raisin, Sugar Nutmeg, Peanut Butter, and Gingersnap), Frosted Cookies, Caramel-Filled Brownies, Blueberry & Raspberry Muffins, and more. Talk about easy packing: all of our cookies are already bagged up & ready to toss into those brown sacks. Helpful Hint for busy moms: Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches are freezable. So if you're looking to save time & cleanup, you might try making all your PB&J sandwiches at one time, assembly-line style, put them in to sandwich bags, then freeze, ready to pull out during the morning's packing. Don't forget to toss in one of those convenient cookie packs, too!

Just because summer vacation is finished, doesn't mean that summer is, too. Don't forget that the Portage County Randolph Fair runs through Sunday.  Check out their info at www.randolphfair,com

See you Saturday!
