...and it's a good thing!

After some Friday showers, this weekend's forecast is for clear & sunny. Which is a good thing, since this is the weekend to look up in Portage County! In Stow, the Kent State Airfield is hosting the 15th annual Aviation Heritage Festival on Saturday from 7am – 5 pm. Why 7 am? Because the festivities start with a pancake breakfast. Gotta love those flyboys! And yes, there will be airplane rides! Plus music, speakers, and general aeronautical fun. More info at Also on Saturday, is the 34th Annual Balloon-A-Fair in Ravenna. Main St. in downtown Ravenna will be closed off to through traffic to make way for craft & food booths, children's carnival rides, and three stages of entertainment. It starts with the grand parade at 9, then in the afternoon, the 'A-Fair adjourns to Sun Beau Valley for more music, the first hot air balloon liftoff at 5:30, and finally, fireworks at dusk. On Sunday, the activities remain at Sun Beau, with music, an antique tractor show, a classic car show, and the final hot air balloon liftoff at 5:30. Click here for more info:

So what if you can't decide whether you'd rather get out and about or just kick back & watch a movie – or three? Mid-Way Drive-In is still open! Not only open, but playing triple features. It's liable to be a little chilly after dark, so bring a blanket to snuggle under. That's all you'll need, since the concession stand has plenty of hot food, hot coffee, and hot chocolate. You can even get an extra side of jalapenos for your nachos. That should keep you warm! Check out their website for info & what's playing on which of their two screens

Pancakes, fair food, and blazing hot nachos are fun, but don't forget the rest of the week, and don't forget the Stow Community Farmers' Market. It goes from 9 – 12:30 at the Stow Community Church (1567 Pilgrim Dr.). Produce, eggs, meat & cheese, honey & honey products, knife sharpening, and a children's craft table. And Stahl's Bakery, of course! This week's special treats will be: Dill-Onion Bread, Cherry-Cheese Tea Rings, Chocolate Sunflower Cake, and Caramel-filled Brownies. We'll also have the weekly favorites like Coconut Macaroons, Frosted Cookies, and Czech Pastries.

See you there!
