Wake up, yeast!

The weather's starting to get a bit chilly, and this weekend, the remains of Hurricane Hannah are putting the soggy into Ohio. Seems like a good time to get the sourdough out of cold storage. Seriously! It's been quietly resting in the back of the refrigerator, waiting to be revived. A little flour, a bit of water, a warm spot, and voila! All the yeastie beasties are happily bubbling away. Even though the wild yeast in this area is relatively tame (compared to San Francisco's), it's still a bit more robust than the commercial variety. Perfect for this weekend's weather.

Saturday at the Haymaker Farm Market we'll be bringing Cherry~Walnut Sourdough bread. Tart dried cherries, toasted walnuts, a bit of orange zest and sourdough, of course. Yummmm! Of course the weekly faves will be there, too. Pepperoni Rolls, Breakfast Calzones, Cookies, Scones, and Italian Bread. Iced Raspberry Tea makes a return, also.

Speaking of the weather, this weekend's downtown Wine Festival has been postponed due to inclement weather. The alternate date hasn't yet been set, but it should be soon.

See you Saturday!
