Stahls E- News

Does anyone else remember the “brutal” winter we were promised at the beginning of this season? So far, so accurate – we've had rain instead of snow, gray overcast instead of snow sparkle, and dull drizzle instead of flurry. For those of us who enjoy the white stuff, this really has been a brutal winter so far. So Stahl's is going to push the issue a bit. Snowflake Petit Fours, Snowflake & Snowmen Frosted Cookies, and even Giant Red Mitten Cookies have taken up residence in our cases. Maybe they'll give some encouragement to Mother Nature, but even if she doesn't pay attention, they'll still provide you with some tasty treats. We even have another incentive for M. Nature and any environmentally-conscious folks out there. Pretty new plastic cupcake ornaments – snowflakes, of course. But wait, these aren't just any plastic – they're biodegradable! How cool is that?!?

Eventually we will get some snow - and the below-freezing temperatures to support it. But it doesn't have to be that cold to enjoy the warmth of Stahl's soup. This week, soup comes off its Christmas break hiatus (sort of like the KSU students) with the return of Curried Pumpkin Soup. A full pound of soup accompanied by a roll; now that's delicious in any temperature!

Another return this Saturday will be Honey Whole Wheat Bread; this is not 'wheaten' bread, which includes some refined flour. Nope, ours is 100% whole wheat. If one of your New Year's resolutions is to eat healthier, then this is your ticket. Unless another of your resolutions is to avoid good taste. Sorry, we can't help you there.

It's been a while since our last e-mail newsletter, and in that time, a lot has happened; we've painted, rearranged the furniture, and gotten a brand new freezer. Yaaay! But 101 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, our friendly neighbors to the West of the parking lot,  have been pretty busy, too - they've added a bar inside their store. Amazingly, they've got 24 craft beers on tap,and even more amazingly, they were able to rearrange the store so as not to lose a single bottle of wine or bottled beer; that's 700+ types! Even if you're not a 'beer geek,' the setup is pretty impressive. Wander across the parking lot for a look-see the next time you stop in at Stahl's.
