Stahls E- News

It has come to our attention that last Saturday at the Haymaker Farmers’ Market, someone {ahem} at the Stahl's Bakery tent told customers that we'd be absent from this Saturday's market, then return the following Saturday. Someone {ahem} apparently can't read a calendar. It's so hard to find good free help these days. And the flour fumes are disorienting. And the dog ate the calendar. Yeah, that's it. Whichever excuse works for you. The actual, official truth is that we will be at the Haymaker this coming Saturday (Oct. 15), loaded with delicious Autumn Leaf, Giant Jack-o-Lantern, Acorn, Ghost, and Black Cat Frosted Cookies, Cupcakes with cool glow-in-the-dark decorations, Czech Pastries, Italian Bread, Finnish Nisu Bread, Family-style Gingerbread, and Pumpkin Nut Muffins. Maybe even some Hot Chai. Apologies for the confusion!

Taking another look at the calendar, it's actually the following week (Oct. 22) that we'll be absent from the Haymaker in order to deliver a wedding cake. That afternoon, we'll also be taking some goodies to the annual Cider Fest in Home Savings Plaza. More on that next week. As for now, this is the last weekend of the year to enjoy outdoor movies at Midway Drive-In and frozen goodies at Stoddard's Frozen Custard. Bye, summer! But fall is in full swing, so don't miss out on all the great NE Ohio events and attractions. There are several local farms with corn mazes and hay rides; Dussel Farm and Walnut Drive are both nearby to the south, Heritage Farms in Peninsula is home to Pumpkin Pandemonium, and as the home of one of the recent Wednesday farmers' market, it's near & dear to our hearts here at Stahl's. Don't forget to visit one of the local apple houses, as well. Does anything compare with the concentrated smell of thousands of apples? Beckwith's is just outside of Kent, and of course we have to mention Stahl's Farm Market in Edinburg. No relation, we just like the sound of their name. Here are some of the e-links: http://www.funflick.com/midway.html www.stoddardsfrozencustard.com www.dusselfarms.com www.walnutdrivegardens.com www.Heritagefarms.com www.beckwithorchards.com www.stahlsfarmmarket.com

Crisp dry air, the beauty of autumn leaves, the smell of hay, and the sun's rays warming you through shedding trees. Best take advantage of this last chance to soak up the vitamin D.

So, are you ready for some soup news? It's almost time! That’s it – that’s the news. If you've been a Stahl's soup fan for a bit, you already know that our soup doesn't follow a calendar. How do we know, really know when it's soup time? Well, it's a combination of cold weather and customer requests. If you’re really jonesin’ and want to push our schedule, you can either a) build a weather machine & make it colder, or b) share your love; it’ll encourage more customer requests. An easy way to do ‘b’ would be to get onto Main St. Kent’s facebook site. Go back to their wall post on September 30th, when MSK asked where to find Kentites’ favorite soups. If you’d prefer to work on ‘a,’ you’re on your own. That kind of advanced science is obviously beyond someone {ahem} who can’t read a calendar.
