Stahls E- News

...is your gain

You might remember that Stahl's has been attending two Wednesday markets this summer, one in Peninsula and the other in Aurora. This last week we were in both at once, thanks to Bakerydad. (Yaaaay, Bakerydad!). Unfortunately, they were both called on account of nearby lightning. So 25 loaves of bread were given to charity, shared with other vendors, and given to the Aurora Fire Department. And there were still a few left. Soo, we put them to good use, turning them into Garlic-Rosemary Croutons for this Wednesday & Saturday.

Speaking of the Wednesday markets, this Wed. will be the last day for this season. Guess that means summer really is over, *sniff*. All the harder because of what great markets these are: Peninsula Market is in a beautiful location on the grounds of the 160-year old family-owned Heritage Farm. A farmers' market on an actual farm...how cool is that?!? Aurora Farmers' Market is at The Church in Aurora, in the lovely tree-lined backyard of the church. This seems like a good time to say "Thank you," both to the customers who came out in droves, and to the managers and administrators of both of these markets. These were extremely welcoming; help with setup & tear down, cold bottled water 'delivery' on obnoxiously hot days, and volunteers and staff making the circuit several times a night to see if vendors needed change, a quick break, or any other help. It's nice to be loved! Big thanks to Karen, Carol, & Adam at Peninsula and Matt & Mary at Aurora, and all their helpers at both locations. If you want to come out & feel the love too, be sure to mark this Wednesday on your calendar. And what will we bring? Besides Croutons, there’s Rye Bread, Focaccia, and Challah (shaped in the round for Rosh Hashanah) to both locations. At Aurora, we'll also have: Italian Bread, Raspberry & Blueberry Muffins, and Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies. At Peninsula, we'll also have Cupcakes, Caramel-filled Brownies, Frosted Monarch Butterfly Cookies, Almond Petit Fours, and other cookies & goodies. Paul Baumgardner will be the musical guest. Oh, and since this is the last day for these markets, we'll be passing out 10% off coupons - you could save yours for Thanksgiving pies or cake, hint, hint.

Now on to Saturday. We've gotten a lot of questions about the end of the Haymaker season in downtown Kent. Don't worry, it will run until the end of October, one of the longest outdoor seasons around. That means you have five more opportunities to "come on down!" and get fresh produce, plants, and Stahl's baked goods. This Saturday, we'll be bringing Challah, Herbed Focaccia, Frosted Leaf & Acorn Cookies, Traditional Cookies, Pie, Cake, and Garlic~Rosemary Croutons, for starters. And Brian Henke returns this week to entertain us with his award-winning music.

See you at the market!
