Can you believe that just two short weeks ago the temperature was 93?!? If you've been to Stahl's this last week and heard cheering for the current temperature, well, please forgive us - proximity to a large commercial oven makes this a VERY welcome change! Don't worry, it will go up...a bit. For a while. But the change in temperature has brought about a change in bakery attitude as well; we're ready for Autumn! So even though Fall doesn't really start until Sept. 23, we're jumping the gun a bit starting this Saturday at the Haymaker Farmers' Market. Besides Italian Bread, Herbed Focaccia, and this week's special Polenta-Asiago Bread (mmm, doesn't that just sound like a great cool-weather bread?), we'll be changing the cookies. Well, some of the cookies; the Pink & Blue Butterflies will morph into Monarchs (Viceroys? Who cares, they're delicious!) and the Watermelon Slices will fade away to make room for Fall Leaves and Acorns. Naturally Baseballs will still be here, and the late-summer Giant Sunflowers.

Lower temperatures also mean other market menu changes; Cherry-filled Chocolate Cupcakes and Caramel-filled Brownies peek out again, now that they're in no danger of melting on the table. Almond Petit Fours and Czech Pastries return also. If you think you'll still feel sluggish by Saturday, never fear, the Kent Shindig All Stars will be here! Lively music, great food...yeah, you know you'll be there!
