{mosimage}Oh, right, those would be the Eyeball Cupcakes. Just in time for your Halloween festivities. How gruesomely gracious to tell your guests, “Here, eat an eyeball. They're delicious!” And of course they are, since they're Stahl's cupcakes dressed up for Halloween. Our cupcakes have other costumes, of course; Glow-in-the-dark rings shaped like skull & crossbones, for instance. First they decorate the cupcakes, then they decorate the cupcake eaters. Cupcakes not your thing? Our frosted cookies are also made up for this spooky weekend; Ghosts, Jack-o-Lanterns, Black Cats, and witches for example. If you're planning a get-together this weekend, give us a call at (330) 673-9244 to let us know what to reserve for you. All of these will also be following us to the Haymaker Farmers' Market this Saturday, along with Pizzelles, Caramel-filled Brownies, Cream Cheese Bear Claws, Czech Pastries (kolachky), and Finnish Nisu Bread.

In case you haven't heard, this is the last Farmers' Market of the summer, so come on down! Guitarist Don King will be making his first visit as a performer, and this will be your last chance to get some things until next summer. We will be having two indoor market dates this year: Dec 11 & 18, but many vegetables will be out of season by then, and there won't be as many vendor spaces. That's a hint that this Saturday from 9-1 would be a good time to stock up on goat's milk soap, jelly, honey, the last of the tomatoes, and don't forget to bring your knives down to be sharpened while you meander through the market! Of course Stahl's has a storefront location, so we're available 6 days a week, whether the market is in session or not. Come check us out at 411 E. Main, right next to The Exchange in Fedex/Kinko's Plaza.

Have kids? Looking for a gentle start to the weekend? Try the Family Friendly Trick-or-Treat in Kent's city center on Friday evening. Check out www.mainstreetkent.org for details. Of course for a more PG-rated (or beyond) Halloween, there's the annual unofficial throng of KSU students on Saturday night. Those all-night partiers will probably still be asleep when the candy-fest ends for everyone else on Sunday afternoon. The Kent-wide Trick-or-Treat is scheduled for 3-5 that day. Leave a light on if you're passing out goodies!

And next week? Curried Pumpkin Soup.  Yep, it's about time.
