Stahls E- News

This whole “High 80s to low 90s with humidity on the high side. It's going to be a warm one, folks!” day after day is boring. You should think about a little variety in your weather reports. Something in the mid-70s, perhaps. Of course that's from someone who's job involves standing near a 400F oven. Of course even next to the oven we realize that summer is fleeting and we all need to savor the variety of Ohio while we can.

Speaking of fleeting, Band Camp for Kent Roosevelt High School is this week...can high school football season be far behind?

Stahl's specialty bread at Haymaker Farmers' Market this week is Roasted Garlic Asiago. Roasting the garlic mellows it out and brings out its natural sugar, so this savory bread is a nice accompaniment to a variety of food. Naturally, we gathered the garlic from farmer/vendors at last week's market! Unfortunately, no Asiago was to be found. But if you're a cheese fan, and who isn't, there are plenty of other varieties to choose from, both from Grass-fed Cows, and Ornery Goats. Ornery Goat Dairy, that is. Their website is And not just cheese – they also bring goat's milk on Saturday morning. (hint: get there early because it goes pretty fast) Sorry, we don't have a website for the Grass-fed folks, but they're easy to find at the market – just a few booths to our North, under the bridge. Yummo!

Jim Gill is this week's Music at the Market guest. Remember what fun he was last year? We're looking forward to more of the same from this Ohio native. Grab yourself a Muffin, Cinnamon Roll, or Cream Cheese Bear Claw (or savory Individual Focaccia) and some iced coffee from Stahl's, then turn around and find a spot on one of the picnic tables by the 'stage' between 10-12. Yep, it's good to be close to the music! And if you lose steam or get thirsty halfway through the performance, we're close enough for a quick refueling. On your second pass, consider a change of pace; like a three-pack of our traditional cookies (Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Sugar-Nutmeg, Gingersnap, or Oatmeal-Raisin), or the popular Frosted Cutouts, Pizzelles, or Czech Pastries.

Your downtown outing doesn't have to stop when the market does: The D.I.C.E.* 7th Annual Ice Cream Social will be held at the Home Savings Plaza between 1-4. Ice cream at .25 a scoop, more live music, and a hula hoop demo and workshop. Join in so you can eat more ice cream! Check out for more information.
